People usually talk about help as if help only means food, shelter, medicine, or transport. But there is another kind of help that matters just as much. Clear information. Because without it, everything becomes harder. A hospital may be available,...
Let us be honest. Searching for critical information online during a crisis is a mess. You type one thing, get twelve unrelated results, open five pages that tell you nothing, and end up more confused than when you started. Somewhere...
When life suddenly turns upside down, nobody wants to open ten tabs, scroll through random WhatsApp forwards, and guess which number still works. That is exactly where most people lose time. And in urgent situations, time is not just time....
My name is Majd Karaki, founder of HelpMap, working alongside my co-founder Sami Tamim.
The idea behind HelpMap was born in a moment of uncertainty. During the last war, my own house was damaged, and for the first time, I truly understood what it means to feel displaced; not just physically, but mentally. In that moment, it wasn’t only about loss, but about the confusion that follows: not knowing where to go, who to trust, or how to access even the most basic support. I realized that the real problem wasn’t just the crisis itself, but the lack of clear, reliable direction during it.
That’s when the idea for HelpMap became more than just a thought. It became a responsibility to build something people could rely on when everything else feels uncertain.
HelpMap is a centralized platform designed to bring clarity in times of chaos, offering people a trusted way to find essential support without confusion or misinformation.
Its importance lies in that mission: ensuring that in moments of crisis, no one is left searching in the dark for help.

My name is Sami Tamim and I am a cofounder of HelpMap alongside my partner and founder Majd Karaki.
The idea behind HelpMap was born from direct experience. Like many others in Lebanon, we witnessed firsthand the severe impact of displacement on families, including our own. People were not only losing their homes, but also access to essential services such as healthcare, education, shelter, and reliable information.
Instead of waiting for a solution, we decided to take initiative and build one ourselves.
After long and dedicated effort, we developed HelpMap, a centralized digital platform designed to provide displaced individuals and families with access to essential and verified information. The platform brings together key services in one place, including hospitals, pharmacies, schools that are accepting displaced students, and a broad network of NGOs offering humanitarian assistance.
HelpMap aims to reduce confusion, limit misinformation, and allow people to quickly and efficiently find the support they need during times of crisis. Our goal is to ensure that access to help is clear, immediate, and reliable for those who need it most.
